4th December 2024 : International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2024

Wednesday, December 4, 2024: International Day of Persons with Disabilities
A wonderful opportunity to explore the region and raise awareness about respect, accessibility, visibility, and the integration of persons with disabilities into society.

Focus on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities

Every year since 1992, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities has been celebrated globally on December 3. Its goal is to promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in all areas of society and development, while raising awareness about the specific challenges they face in political, social, economic, and cultural aspects of life.
In 2024, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities will take place on Wednesday, December 4, 2024.

Thanks to the sustained efforts of the United Nations on disability-related matters, the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, adopted in 2006, has advanced the recognition and protection of these rights. The implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and other international initiatives, such as the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (2015-2030), the Charter on Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in Humanitarian Action, the New Urban Agenda, and the Addis Ababa Action Agenda on Financing for Development, aim to foster societal transformation, making it sustainable and resilient for all.

The 2024 International Day of Persons with Disabilities at the Lavender Museum Luberon

To mark this important occasion, the Lavender Museum Luberon will open its doors free of charge to all persons with disabilities, provided they present their official disability card.
Their official companion is, of course, also invited to visit free of charge.

The museum is committed to welcoming persons with disabilities under the best possible conditions, as it has been since its inception.

Numerous works to improve the facility’s accessibility have been carried out since its inauguration in 1991.

The museum has been certified Tourism and Disability since 2007 for three types of disabilities and continues to maintain the label, even for four types of disabilities, for many years to come.

The premises and mediation tools are regularly reassessed and adapted to continuously improve the visitor experience for persons with disabilities.
